Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to The Rosalind & Morris Goodman Institute (Goodman) and we are committed to protecting your personal information. Because we collect certain types of information from people who visit our sites, we have developed a privacy statement to help you understand the terms and conditions under which we collect and use that information. This statement outlines the types of information we collect, how we use it, and how you can access and change the information we collect about you at any time.

Goodman respects the privacy of those who visit our websites, send us an email or participate in our online services. Accordingly, we have developed our privacy policy based on the following guiding principles:

  • Goodman adheres to a strict "no spam" policy. Subscribers to our email services or any other services advertised on the Goodman web site (www.goodmancancer.com) will be able to receive our newsletter and easily unsubscribe.
  • Goodman collects information online primarily to provide our visitors with a more relevant experience. We will make every effort to avoid excessive or irrelevant data collection.
  • Goodman will take reasonable physical, electronic and managerial measures to protect any information you give us (e.g., data will be stored in secure databases on secure servers to which access is controlled).
  • Other than to provide the service you have requested, Goodman will not share with anyone the information you have given us without your consent. At the time you subscribe to such a service, you will be informed of the necessary disclosure of your information to any third party in order to provide you with the requested service, and you will be asked for your consent to do so.

Usage data: Each time you visit the Goodman website, we may collect certain non-personally identifying information about how you access our site. This may include information on your browser, your service provider, your IP address, and any search engine you used to find the site. This information is used to diagnose problems with our server, to manage the website and to compile general statistical information. Goodman also collects certain navigational data about your actions on our websites. This allows us to determine which parts of the websites are most visited and to tailor the websites to the needs and interests of our online visitors. In addition, this tracking data may be used to tailor information to you on our sites based on your previous use of the sites and your interests in particular topics.

Voluntarily submitted information: Any information you provide to us (i.e., name, email address, etc.) when you sign up for one of our email services, request information, register on our site, enter one of our contests, or use any other part of our websites is securely stored on our web server and internal systems. We may use it to provide you with information you have requested about our organization and services, or to provide you with special notices.

Some of the information we request on our site is marked "required" because you must enter it in order to participate in the program or service requested. You may opt out of receiving further communications at any time (see opt-out procedures below). This data may also be used to personalize your experience on our sites by providing content that matches your interests and geographic location. Finally, we may aggregate the information you give us (such as demographic information) to update our sites. This data will not be disclosed to others except as described in the "Disclosure of Personal Information" and "Use of Cookies" sections.

Information collected from other sources: To help us better understand and respond to your needs and interests, Goodman may receive information about you from other sources in the future. Goodman will require any supplier of such information to represent and warrant that the information has been collected and maintained in accordance with privacy laws. All such information, as well as any other personal information you have provided to us, will be retained by Goodman in accordance with the standards set forth in this Privacy Policy.

Goodman understands the importance of your personal information. We collect personal information from our visitors and retain it for our own purposes. We do not sell, rent or market this information to third parties, except as described below, and never without your consent.

Goodman may partner with certain companies at various times to provide expanded services to our website visitors. As part of these relationships, Goodman may share with these companies the use of certain interactive website features. Information provided by visitors through such interactive features is available to Goodman and its partners.

Goodman may call on other companies and individuals to perform certain functions on its behalf. Examples include administering email services and running special promotions. These parties have access only to the personal information needed to perform these functions and may not use or store the information for any other purpose. Subscribers or visitors to the sites will never receive e-mail messages from representatives who work for us.

If Goodman were to sell or transfer a portion of its assets, visitor information could be one component of those assets transferred as part of the transaction. If substantially all of Goodman's assets are acquired, consumer information may be transferred as part of the acquisition.

Goodman may disclose certain personal information based on a good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with the law or to protect users of our websites, the sites themselves, or the public.

Subject to the manner set forth in this Privacy Policy, you will be informed when any personally identifiable information may be disclosed to third parties, and you will have the opportunity to opt out of such disclosure.

Goodman may use a browser feature called a "cookie". Cookies are small files placed on your hard drive that allow Goodman to provide you with a personalized browsing experience. Cookies eliminate the need for you to re-enter certain information, such as user IDs and passwords, during your visits to our websites. Cookies also allow Goodman to provide you with information targeted to you based on the type of browsing you have done on our websites. The "help" section of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how you can prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable the use of cookies altogether. Because Goodman websites have been designed to take advantage of the use of cookies, if you set your browser to reject their use, some features of the sites may not function properly and you may be required to enter user IDs and passwords more frequently.

Goodman websites contain links to other sites. Goodman is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such other sites. To protect your privacy, Goodman recommends that you review the privacy policy of every site you visit.

Only the unique password associated with the personal data file created at the time of your registration on the Goodman website allows access to this file. To protect the confidentiality of this data, you should not reveal your password to anyone.

You can always opt out of receiving communications from Goodman. Our sites allow users to opt out of receiving communications at the point where personal information is requested, or in another manner that will be specified.

Goodman respects your right to privacy. Accordingly, you will be able to review the personal information you provide to us. In addition, you will be able to update, modify or delete your personal information at any time by doing the following:
